The main objective of the committee is to improve communications between utilities in terms of potential stray current interference from cathodic protection rectifiers. In order to obtain this objective, meetings will be held on a quarterly basis, two of which will be scheduled in Birmingham and two in Montgomery. ALABAMA CORROSION COORDINATING COMMITTEE (ACCC) MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT Please be advised that the next Alabama Corrosion Committee Meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 10^th in Birmingham at the Winfrey Hotel. The Alabama Natural Gas Association is providing a room for us at 3:30pm in the Yorkshire Room or Riverchase A. This meeting is part of the ANGA Spring Conference. Our speaker is Greg Williams of AGL Resources. Greg initiated and has run the pilot program with the Georgia Corrosion Committee which involves close interfacing with the State One Call Program. This program involves having the One Call technicians locate and flag cathodic protection systems in an effort to dramatically reduce 3^rd party damage of CP systems. If you don't make another meeting all year, make this one! Representatives of the Alabama One Call Program will also attend this meeting with our ultimate goal being to bring this unprecedented program approach to Alabama. The Winfrey is located in the Galleria in Riverchase on Highway 31, one exit west of I-65 in Hoover, Alabama. This is without question the most important meeting in the short history of our Corrosion Committee! Career Opportunities ENBRIDGE ENERGY INC. POSITION AVAILABLE FOR CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISOR Muscle Shoals, AL Enbridge Energy Inc. has a position available for a Construction Supervisor to work 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Overtime, weekend, and some out-of-town work may be necessary. High School education required; applicants with 5–10 years in pipeline construction and pipeline system operations preferred. Will consider candidates with pipeline operations or oil/gas production experience. Must be able to effectively communicate with landowners, regulatory agencies, company leaders as well as contractors and consultants to achieve a common goal. Engineering, drafting, welding, gas measurement, and compressor station backgrounds are preferred. Must have computer skills and be adept in MS Excel and Word, be able to handle several projects concurrently, and make cost-effective decisions with little supervision. Valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Must be able to perform occasional inside and outdoor physically-demanding work and live within 25 miles of the work location. We provide natural gas, installation and service to approx. 15,000 customers in Coffee and Franklin Counties. We have three conveniently located offices with approx. 700 miles of mains and 60 employees. We are governed by a Board of Commissioners. Brief Job Summary: The Comptroller is responsible for the overall management of the financial and accounting activities of the District working with the management team, supervisors and support staff. The Comptroller must have appropriate education and/or experience in the field of accounting. The candidate should posses the following: strong technical skills, analytical ability, conscientious, good judgment and strong operational focus. They should also be energetic, forward-thinking, well organized, and creative with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image, working in a team environment.
